As the use of plastic increase, so does the waste. According to the Ministry of Environment and Forestry of The Republic of Indonesia (2021), Indonesia produces 28,5 million tons of trash annually, and 17% of them (4,85 million tons) come from plastics. Parts of these trash can turn into microplastic that polluts the freshwater. Microplastics can come from decays of larger plastic objects or small plastic bits such as from body scrubs and laundry detergent.

This website intends to spread awareness about microplastic, including its sources, source of being eaten by the fish, and the health effects on human. You can also make an impact on this issue by donating or signing petition of the Ecoton Organization. Ecoton is an Indonesian-based environment organization that focuses on river conservation.
